Little Dictator

Tiny, fully local dictation for macOS.

Press a hotkey, speak, press it again — your words are transcribed on-device and pasted into whatever app you're using. It lives in the menu bar, uses Apple's Neural Engine, and never needs an account.

Anticipated initial release will be via the Apple App Store in Fall 2026.

Privacy

Little Dictator is built so your voice stays on your Mac. Audio is captured from the microphone, transcribed locally with a speech model that runs on-device, and never sent to Triple Nought or any other server. There is no telemetry, no analytics, and no cloud account.

The speech model is downloaded once and cached on your computer. After that, dictation works offline. The app asks for Microphone access to hear you, and Accessibility access only so it can paste the result into the frontmost app — not to read your screen or send anything away.
